Allen J. Smith, 78, of 2884 Mitchell Road, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in WCA Hospital.
He was born Sept. 25, 1934, on Jackson Hill in West Springcreek, Pa., the son of the late Elmer and Gertrude Algert Smith.
He attended school in West Springcreek, Corry Public Schools and St. Ed-wards Parochial School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 14 months in Korea during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Campaign Medal with a Battle Participation Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Service Medal and the Good Con-duct Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1997, he was employed by WCA Hospital for 40 years as a respiratory therapist.
He was a past member of the National Fire Protection Association and its member advisory committee and Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion. He was active in local as well as military sports programs.
Surviving are two sons: Bradley (Kathy) Smith of Russell, Pa., and Todd Smith of Starbrick, Pa.; five grandchildren: Brook Klancher, Deidre, Bryan, Eric and Zachary Smith; two brothers: Roger Smith of Jamestown and Lawrence Smith of North Carolina; and several "adopted grandchildren."
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters: Juanita Zorn, Betty Munn, Marion Mi-gliaccio, Donna Chapman and Mildred Carutis; and five brothers: Richard, Robert, Elmer, Harold and Donald Smith.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Satur-day in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
