Midweek Vespers To Feature Old Dawg Bluegrass

CHAUTAUQUA - Hurlbut Community Church in Chautauqua Institution will feature special guests Old Dawg Bluegrass at its "Midweek Vespers" worship service Wednesday. The monthly family music and arts worship event will begin with a 5:30 p.m. pot-luck dinner, with the service beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Old Dawg Bluegrass consists of four veteran bluegrass musicians each of whom has more than 30 years of musical experience in bands and as solo artists. These musicians not only have solid backgrounds in bluegrass music, but also perform folk, jazz, ragtime, country, blues, and rock 'n' roll, with those influences evident in this high energy and enthusiastic bluegrass band.

These four musicians Steve Eng, Steve Strom, Mark Davis, and Bill White are all from the Western New York area. They will be performing a host of bluegrass Gospel favorites, as well as well as original arrangements.

The "Midweek Vespers" is a music and arts-based worship service with a minimum of spoken word. It is presented the second Wednesday of each month in Hurlbut Church, Pratt at Scott Avenues, Chautauqua. "Faith Weaver," a children's supervised Bible experience, is provided separately during the service.
