PORTVILLE - Top-ranked Maple Grove improved to 6-0 for the season as the Red Dragons easily downed Portville, 21-0, in Class D football on Friday night, highlighted by a big night for Oliver Simpson
After a scoreless first quarter, Maple Grove got on the board in the second as quarterback Aaron Germain found the end zone on a 2-yard run and Erik Olson's extra point made it 7-0.
Things remained the same until the third quarter when Simpson broke free for a 34-yard run to the end zone and Maple Grove took a 14-0 lead. Later on the period, Derek Johnson caught a 29-yard pass for a touchdown from Germain for the final score of the game as Maple's Grove's stout defense preserved the shutout.

In total, Simpson ended the evening with 15 carries for 160 yards for the Red Dragons.
Tyler Veno came through with 11 tackles and a sack for Portville (3-3).

FREWSBURG - Zeddie Williams forgot his numbered jersey, but that didn't stop him from having a big night offensively on Friday in Class D football.
Williams ran for 143 yards on 27 attempts when Silver Creek (3-3) recorded a 34-12 verdict over short-handed Frewsburg (3-3).
The score saw Silver Creek taking a 7-6 lead at halftime as Nick Iskra threw a 34-yard scoring pass and Nick Seril kicked the extra point.
Frewsburg countered as Robbie Stearns was on the receiving end of a 12-yard pass from Nick Munella.
The Williams brothers took over in the second half with Zeddie scoring touchdowns from a yard away and Sherman also hitting paydirt twice from a yard away.
Munella got his second touchdown pass of 5 yards to Garrett Steele for Frewsburg in the fourth quarter. He was 19 of 29 for 173 yards through the air.
Frewsburg was minus four starters and had several banged up players giving it an effort.
The Bears had two major blunders on special teams as they fumbled twice leading to the scores.

C-LV GETS FIRST WIN
CATTARAUGUS - Cattaraugus-Little Valley picked up its first victory of the season with a 16-0 shutout win over I-Prep/Grover (0-6) in Class D football.
Sam Agnew was 4-of-9 for 98 yards, throwing a pair of touchdown passes, the first going to Colt Agnew for 44 yards and his second to Justin Forster for 27 yards. Thomas Crawford also forced a safety in the fourth quarter.
Gil Keenen was the leading rusher for the Timberwolves (1-5) with 11 carries for 47 yards.
Defensively, Ryan Hanft led the winners with six tackles and a sack and Forster also added an interception.
