FREWSBURG - Four local youths are in trouble with the law in connection with a burglary investigation in Frewsburg.
Carroll police say four juvenile males between the ages of 12 and 13 forcibly entered an uninhabited residence, garage and cabin Sept. 22 on Railroad Avenue using a hammer, saw and heavy-duty wire cutters, damaging doors and windows to all three buildings.
After entering the buildings, the defendants, a 13-year-old of Sugar Grove, Pa., a 13-year-old of Lakewood, a 13-year-old of Frewsburg and a 12-year-old of Frewsburg, damaged personal property and further vandalized the buildings by throwing items through windows and breaking items inside and outside of the buildings. Damage is estimated to exceed $1,000.
On Sept. 23 around 1 p.m., the four individuals returned to the buildings and were located inside the cabin by the owner. The property owner notified the Carroll Police Department. During the investigation, officers learned that some of the bicycles used by the juveniles to travel to and from the property were either stolen or belong to yet unidentified individuals.
The four juveniles were taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar's tools, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree criminal mischief. They were issued appearance tickets for Chautauqua County Family Court and released to their parents.
