The Reg Lenna Civic Center will begin its season this weekend with the start of a movie series.
Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" will be presented to the public Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. The director of "Rushmore" and "The Royal Tenenbaums" turns his quirky eye on a 1960s youthful romance between a Boy Scout and the girl of his dreams.
The movie series also includes "Hope Springs," "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "Bully," "Beasts Of The Southern Wild" and "Sleepwalk With Me."
The children's book, "The Velveteen Rabbit," comes to life on the Reg stage as part of Arts Council For Chautauqua County's Youth Series on Wednesday. A morning performance has sold out, while a 12:30 p.m. show has been added. Youth Series shows are open to school and public audiences.
Legendary bluegrass musician Ricky Skaggs will perform Saturday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. Skaggs will perform with his longtime band, Kentucky Thunder.
Just added to the Reg schedule is a Family Series performance of "A Christmas Carol." This unique performance includes audience interaction with live actors and a lot of comedy. The show, presented by Dufflebag Theatre Company and Arts Council For Chautauqua County, will be performed on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m. and will be fun for the whole family.
Chautauqua Regional Youth Ballet's "The Nutcracker", will continue the holiday spirit with performances on Dec. 14 and 15.
