Volk Leads Falconer Girls To Win

FALCONER- Sparked by Andrea Volk, Falconer improved to 5-1-1 in Division 1 girls soccer and overall to 6-2-1 on Monday afternoon.

Volk scored twice to run her total to seven goals as the Lady Golden Falcons decisioned Fredonia (3-4), 3-1.

The first half saw the only goal being scored by Volk at 11:36 from Randi Greene to give Falconer a 1-0 edge.

Morgan Genovese of Fredonia tied it up at 1-1 from Zoya Katta at just 49 seconds of the second half.

Falconer went ahead for good at 2-1 when Volk scored with Emma Steele at 11:11.

Then, Rhea Moore scored her fourth goal of the fall from Kelly Heath at 38:06 for an insurance tally for Falconer.

The goalie for Falconer was Jordyn Jones, who was called upon to make four saves.

For Fredonia, Bri Dahn and Alaeyna Szot combined for eight saves.

OLEAN TOPS SWCS

OLEAN - Kaitlyn McKeown, Michaela Byrne and Kaylee Pearl scored goals as Olean beat Southwestern, 3-1.

McKeown tallied from Fylicia Barr at 25 minutes and Byrne scored unassisted at 39 minutes for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Pearl upped the count to 3-0 with an unassisted tally at nine minutes of the second half.

Southwestern got on the scoreboard when Brittany Feldman scored at 37 minutes of the second half.

Maddy Stavish had six saves in the win.
