Smith, Coustenis Lead Lady Warriors

SINCLAIRVILLE - Salamanca's Shae Smith and Alyssa Coustenis shined for the Lady Warriors with two goals each in a 6-0 shutout over host Cassadaga Valley (0-8, 1-11) in Division 2 girls soccer on Monday.

One minute into the game, Smith scored an unassisted goal, followed by a goal from Cali James, assisted by Coustenis for the Lady Warriors.

With10 minutes left, Andie Hill made it 3-0 as Smith earned the assist and a few minutes later, Coustenis knocked in her first of the game, unassisted.

In the second half, Smith found the net off a corner kick for her second of the contest with 30 minutes left and at the 39-minute mark, Coustenis scored her second goal with the assist by Paige Papa.

The winning goalie was Kasauna Learn, who had four saves.

Meagan Rearick had 17 saves for Cassadaga Valley.

MG EDGES PORTVILLE

Portville (7-3, 8-3-1) and Maple Grove put on a strong defensive show and the Lady Red Dragons (10-0, 12-0) finally broke through near the end of the game to pull out a 1-0 win to maintain their perfect season.

The game was scoreless until Alex Novotny found the net for Maple Grove as Paige Sirwatka assisted with five minutes left in the game.

Lauren Nickerson got the victory in goal, making five saves for Maple Grove.

Kaitlyn Knott had 12 saves in the losing effort for Portville.

BEARS BLANK SC

SILVER CREEK - Frewsburg raised its Division 2record to 6-3 with a shutout victory over Silver Creek.

Ryanne Strong made just two saves in posting the shutout as the Bears blanked Silver Creek, 3-0.

Janissa Annis got the only goal in the first half with a tally with just three minutes left until intermission. She was assisted by MacKenzie Swartzman and for Annis it was her fourth of the season.

In the second half, the Bears tallied twice with Abbey Jermain getting her first goal of the fall by converting a pass from Annis with 33 minutes remaining.

With 10 minutes left, Swartzman recorded her second goal from Alexia Anderson.

The goalie for SC was Jamie Hehir, who made 10 saves.
