The Post-Journal

Alanna Sluga, 6, of Randolph, competed in the National American Miss New York State Pageant. To compete in this competition, one must first be nominated and then chosen as a state finalist. The girls are judged on community service, personal interview, personal introduction and formal wear presentation. Alanna is the daughter of Ryan and Angela Sluga, and she finished in the top five overall, bringing home a trophy for fourth runner up. She also earned: Best Thank You Note, first runner up in the art contest, fourth place in Talent, fourth place in Casual Modeling Wear, most ticket sales, the Spirit of America award, the Portfolio Award and Outstanding Program Participant for advertising. Alanna earned the right to compete in November in the National Pageant in California, however she has declined the invitation and will focus on preparations for next year's state pageant. Alanna would like to thank her amazing friends and family and generous local businesses for supporting her hopes and dreams.
