Jamestown AARP Meetings To Be Held

Jamestown AARP Board of Directors will meet Thursday, Oct. 4, in the parlors of First Lutheran Church, beginning at 10 a.m. The general meeting at the same location on Oct. 9, beginning at 1:30 p.m., will include fellowship time, bingo with prizes, a blood-pressure clinic, a book exchange, a business meeting and refreshments. All area seniors are welcome.

Marco Polo Auxiliary To Meet

The Marco Polo Auxiliary will meet for a tureen supper at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Members should take a dish to pass. Josephine Conti, Mickey Pappalardo and Mary Racitano are chairwomen. New officers were installed by Norma Gagliano at a recent meeting. They are Ms. Racitano, president; Frances Lunetta, secretary; and Dorothy Galati, treasurer. Reports by the secretary and treasurer were read. Celebrating birthdays were Marian DiGregorio and Rita Ellis. Jay Carlo and Fran Lunetta were thanked for serving refreshments.

Dementia Care Conference Is Oct. 5

The Chautauqua County Dementia Care Conference will be held Friday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown. The program will feature the "Living with Alzheimer's Disease: Middle Stage" series. A community resource fair will be held. Lunch will be provided. The cost is free for family caregivers and $30 for professional caregivers. Registration is required. Call the Alzheimer's Association at 1-800-272-3900 to register. Driver Safety Courses To Be Held

The Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St., Brocton, will offer a fall AARP Driver Safety Course from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 15, and Wednesday, Oct. 17. The class, which is targeted to senior drivers, is open to any age New York state licensed driver. The class fee is $17 or $34 per couple for AARP members, $19 or $38 per couple and is payable by check only, to AARP; no cash accepted. Persons attending should take a pen, driver's license and AARP membership card to class and arrive at least 10 minutes early the first day to allow sign-in. Registration is by phone at 792-9418. Class size is limited. If unable to attend after registration, call to cancel as a waiting list is kept for others interested in taking the class. Participants should take a seat cushion if unable to sit for long periods of time.
