Johnny Appleseed Festival To Begin
The seventh annual Johnny Appleseed Festival will be taking place Oct. 5-7 at Memorial Field in Sheffield, Pa. The event will feature an antique tractor pull, a draft horse pull, a wine tasting event, antiques appraisal, music, apple pie baking contest, chain saw carving, fireworks, professional lumberjack competition, food and crafts. Dinner Dance
Set For Oct. 6
An autumn dinner dance sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 926 and the Court St. Gertrude 92 Catholic Daughters will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, in the St. John Church hall, 270 Newton Ave., Jamestown. The turkey/roast beef dinner will be catered by The Payne Pantry. Take 2 will provide music. Proceeds will benefit many charitable projects. The dinner is open to the public. All adults are welcome. Historical Society To Meet Oct. 3
RANDOLPH - The Randolph Historical Society will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the municipal building. The program for the evening will be Howie VanRensselaer speaking on the history of the funeral home. The public is invited to attend. The Society has a collection of Randolph Central School yearbooks which is almost complete. Yearbooks are lacking for the years 1958, 1959, 1960, 1994 and 2005. The society asks for yearbooks for those years to be donated.
Rummage Sale Begins Thursday
YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. - St. Luke Catholic Church, 420 N. Main St., Youngsville, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 and Friday, Oct. 5. and a $1 bag sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. The event is sponsored by the Altar/Rosary Society of the church.
Charlotte Town Board To Meet
SINCLAIRVILLE - The Charlotte Town Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in the David Vern Luce Community Building, 8 Lester St., Sinclairville. The public is welcome to attend.
Rummage Sale Begins Oct. 5
SOUTH DAYTON - The South Dayton United Methodist Church will hold a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6. A bag sale will begin at noon Saturday and a bake sale will be held both days.
CLA To Hold Paddles Event
CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Lakes Association is holding its second annual Paddles Across the Lakes event on Saturday, Oct. 6. Paddles Across the Lakes is both a celebration of non motorized lake activity and the proper preservation of wetlands. Participants are instructed to meet at the DEC Launch on Dale Drive at 10 a.m. Oct. 6. They will then take a leisurely tour of the lakes and witness the official dedication of a sign commemorating the recently acquired Fern Island Wetlands Preserve. Refreshments will follow.
