September 27, 2012
The Post-Journal

LILY DALE - Pets will star at a special service at Lily Dale Assembly, sponsored by The Church of the Living Spirit in celebration of the Feast Day of St. Francis, patron saint of animals and the environment.

All area residents and their pets are invited to attend the event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.

Each participant is asked to give a donation of food or money for an animal shelter. The special service will be led by the Rev. Joanne Copley-Nigro at the Wolf Clan Stump Circle in front of the church on Cleveland Avenue.

Lily Dale residents Mike Nigro and Rev. Joanne Copley-Nigro gather with neighbors John Gross, Charlene Matyjakowski and Karen Loomis and their canine buddies.

Owners will receive healing ribbons for their pets, prayer cards and treats. Animals should be friendly with people and other pets and must be on leashes or in carriers. If pets have passed on, owners may wish to bring photos so healings and blessings may be directed to their animals. It's suggested that owners bring water and waste pickup bags for their pets; also, lawn chairs, blankets, and umbrellas in case of rain.
