One man is dead and another is in the hospital recovering from a stab wound after a home invasion burglary Wednesday afternoon.
Jamestown police officers are investigating the incident, which occurred at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday at 112 Barker St., Jamestown. Police report the home's resident returned to find two people burglarizing his home. The resident then fought with the burglars, with both burglars stabbed by the resident.
One of the burglars died a short distance from the home and the second burglar was able to flee the residence and make it to the hospital. The second burglar is being treated at WCA Hospital for a stab wound.

Area residents at the scene said the resident may have known the burglars who were inside his home. It is not known what the burglars were looking for in the residence.
The Chautauqua County Forensic Identification Team is helping with the investigation. The name of the dead burglar is not being released yet. More information will be released by the police as it becomes available.
