FREWSBURG - At the annual corn roast, kicking off the year for the Frewsburg Lions Club, Leo Bethany Steele was honored as the winner of the 2011-12 Leo of the Year for Multiple District 20.
The district includes all of New York state and Bermuda. Steele was one of 12 recipients of the award in the United States. The award recognizes her leadership skills, record in implementing successful service projects, contributions to the development and growth of the Leo Club Program, distinction in community/school activities outside of Leo commitments and high ethical standards and personal integrity.
Steele has been a member of the Frewsburg Leo Club since seventh grade and is club president. She is a senior at Frewsburg Central School and the daughter of Eugene and Lynn Steele. It was noted Bethany received special recognition of her honor at an event hosted by the district governor in August.
