Farewell Fireball

Students Wave Goodbye To Adventurally Drivers

September 25, 2012

As quickly as they came to Jamestown, the 40 teams that make up the 2012 Fireball Run Adventurally are on to their next mission.

Early Monday morning, the teams moved out to Third Street in front of the Best Western to get ready to embark on the next leg of their journey, which takes them to Wellsboro, Pa.

The producers had a tight schedule to stick to, which meant a lot of orders being broadcast over the speakers that had been set up for Sunday's events. After signing a flag commemorating their time in Jamestown, competitors gathered in front of the hotel for a group picture along with Lee Harkness, executive director of the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation.

Mayor Sam Teresi was also at the send-off this morning and gave a speech thanking the competitors for coming to Jamestown, as well as thanking Harkness and the rest of "Team Jamestown" who organized the event.

Following the speeches, participants began to line their vehicles up to begin their procession out of town and on towards the next stop. A brief opportunity for pictures with the competitors was available for anyone in the area.

Then, at 9:45 a.m., the entourage of exotic sports cars, SUVs, ambulances and even a time-traveling DeLorean replica made their way through Jamestown. As a way to thank the competitors for coming to the area all of the staff and students of Samuel H.G. Love Elementary School were waiting on the sidewalk of North Main Street to wave goodbye the them as they left town.
