Steele Stars In Falconer Girls’ Victory

DUNKIRK - Emma Steele came through with a top-flight effort to lead the Falconer Lady Golden Falcons to an 8-1 victory over Dunkirk in a Division 1 soccer game on Wednesday.

Steele collected four goals - all in the second half - and added an assist as Falconer improved to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the division.

Andrea Volk added two goals, and Julia Anderson and Kaylee Keith added one apiece. Rhea Moore and Anderson both chipped in an assist.

Jordyn Jones made six saves for Falconer, which led, 2-0, at halftime.

Calan Pogarzelski had the lone goal for Dunkirk.

FELDMAN SCORES WINNER

WESTFIELD -Brittany Feldman scored the winning goal in double overtime at six minutes from Kate Johnson as Southwestern (3-0, 4-1) beat Westfield (1-2, 2-3), 5-3.

Feldman also made a pass to Megan Sholl with three minutes left to give Southwestern an insurance goal.

The first half wound up in a 1-1 tie with Emily Wuebbolt scoring from Feldman at six minutes for the Lady Trojans and Kayla Bentham tallying for Westfield at 14 minutes.

Twice in the second half it was Southwestern going ahead by one only to have Westfield tie it up at 3-3 to go into the overtime session.

Emily Wuebbolt scored from Caitlin Wuebbolt at 6 minutes and Kate Johnson from Sholl at 9 minutes for Southwestern.

Bentham and Rachel Allen recorded goals for Westfield.

Brita Johnson had five saves for Southwestern and Savannah Rowan nine for Westfield.
