Charles L. ‘‘Charlie’’ Minick

Charles L. ''Charlie'' Minick, 78, of Dyer, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2012.

On Dec. 25, 1952, Charles married the love of his life, the former Janet Persson, who survives, the daughter of Eric and Beatrice Persson and together they had three daughters: Debra Devine, Cynthia (Robert) Merritt and Erica Miller. Also survived by grandchildren: Joshua Charles and Amanda Devine, Jon and Kathryn Merritt and Beatrice and Emma Miller; and nephew, Robbie (Melissa) Minick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Duff and Treva; brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Nore T. Persson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at noon at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville.

Friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Charles was a star basketball player in high school, and wonderful dancer, who, in his younger days, never missed a chance to take Janet dancing. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, had a passion for restoring antiques, was a master of woodworking and was associated with the Senior Artisan Shop in Munster.

Charles retired from Wexler Meat Co. with 12 years of service, and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Daytona Beach Lodge 1263. Charles was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Carroll Lodge 1147 Frewsburg, N.Y.

He was a loving husband looking forward to cele-brating his and Janet's 60th wedding anniversary, a lov-ing father and grandfather, his family was his life, and he was the glue that held them together.
