Mrs. Sipos spoke on the old art of making clothes, telling all about shearing a sheep, carding and combing the wool, spinning the wool and then using the homespun for weaving. Gale Peterson introduced the speaker, giving a brief summary of the many fibers areas Mrs. Sipos demonstrates. Mrs. Sipos said she met Sydney Withers, builder of her spinning wheel, at the county fair many years ago. Withers said he would teach her to spin and when she said she did not have a spinning wheel, he said he would build her one. She then showed many basket full of different kinds fleece, skeins of yarn, and natural dyes used with wool.
Susan Sipos is shown with a custom-made spinning wheel, which is known as a parlor wheel or a ship’s wheel due to its compact size.
