With fall just around the corner, now is the time to stock up on birdseed.
Oct. 1 is the deadline for placing orders for the Audubon Center and Sanctuary's fall sale of a variety of birdseeds and related items.
In addition to its most popular item, Audubon's exclusively formulated Conewango Blend for local birds, specialty seeds, "cakes," suet cage feeders, and peanut butter bells are also available.
All the choices are on the order form that can be obtained by calling the Audubon Center by calling 569-2345 or clicking on "Birdseed Orders Due" on the home page of Audubon's website at jamestownaudubon.org. Orders can be made online, mailed or called in. Orders must be pre-paid.
Pickup is on Saturday, Oct. 13, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary. Volunteers will load the fresh seed, direct from the supplier, right into buyers' car trunk.
Friends of the Nature Center get a 10 percent discount on pre-ordered birdseed. Membership information is available at Audubon's website at jamestownaudubon.org.
