Melvin Henry Brown, Ph.D., 92, of Seaford, Del., passed away Sept. 12, 2012, at his home.
Born in Pilot Township, Iowa, on Dec. 6, 1919, Dr. Brown was a retired research scientist with Al-coa in New Kensington, Pa., from 1949 to 1986. His many achievements in-clude two Arthur Vining Davis awards, and 53 pa-tents for his many discoveries. He published numerous articles, and was most proud of his work for the U.S. Navy. He was a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Jamestown, N.Y.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Mary Jane Stodgell Brown; his sister and his four children: Marianne Brown Grantz (Seaford, Del.), William Brown (Apollo, Pa.), Robert Brown (Loganville, Ga.) and Ellen Brown Agett (Jamestown, N.Y.); his 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeport, Pa., on Monday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed in Brookland Cemetery in Leechburg, Pa.
