FREDONIA?- Two Dunkirk men have been charged with manslaughter following the shooting death of a Fredonia man Saturday.

At about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Fredonia police officers were called to 217 Porter Ave. for a report of an unresponsive person. After investigating the incident, it was determined Frank T. Slate Jr., 73, had been shot with what is believed to be a 16-gauge shotgun.

Christopher M. Grant, 27, of 54 Kosciuszko Ave., Dunkirk, and Theodore S. Wickham, 45, of 142 King St., Dunkirk, were reportedly visiting with Slate Friday night into Saturday morning when an argument began. Wickham then allegedly shot Slate once.
