JCC Volleyball Team Compiles Perfect Record At Niagara County

SANBORN - The Jamestown Community College women's volleyball team didn't lose a game all day as it defeated four other NJCAA Region 3 Division III teams at the Niagara County CC POD tournament on Saturday.

The Jayhawks are 12-5 overall and 8-1 in Region 3 Division III.

JCC had to play three matches back-to-back-to-back and they swept them with nine wins.

''It was pretty brutal and to come out and not loose a set was pretty awesome,'' JCC coach Ashley Lund said.

JCC opened by defeating Hudson Valley CC, 25-15, 25-9 and 25-1.

Christina Rauh led the Jayhawks with 12 aces, 17 assists, seven kills and 15 digs. Erica Lis had 10 kills and two digs, Brittany Brace recorded two aces and eight kills, and Kelsey Kyser had one ace, three kills, three digs and one block.

Then JCC topped Columbia-Greene CC 25-3, 25-7 and 25-9.

Rauh had seven aces, 13 assists, one kill and five digs. Lis recorded two aces, six kills, three digs and one block; Kyser had one ace, six kills, one dig and two blocks; and Anna Nietupski picked up two aces, four kills and five digs.

Next, the Jayhawks defeated Fulton-Montgomery CC, 25-13, 25-8, and 25-10.

Rauh had five aces, 25 assists, six kills and 11 digs. Lis had one ace, 17 kills and four digs; Kyser recorded one ace, nine kills and seven digs; and Brace had two aces, five kills and six digs.

The final win was over Adirondack CC, 25-23, 25-11, 25-18.

Rauh picked up one ace, 25 assists, nine kills, 14 digs and two blocks while Lis had one ace, 12 kills, nine digs and one block; Kyser had eight kills, three digs and two blocks; and Nietupski one ace, six kills and 12 digs.

The Jayhawks return to action at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Genesee CC, a Division II team.
