SHERMAN - The passing of Andrew Graham was vital as Sherman maintained its undefeated record at 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Graham hit 13 of 19 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns as Sherman led all the way to defeating non-league Westfield (1-2), 26-18.
Graham went over from the 1-yard line and Devin Moorehead added the extra points for the only points of the first half.
A 25-yard pass from Graham to Moorehead accounted for the only scoring of the third period as Sherman led by a 14-0 margin.
Moorehead made it 20-0 on a 1-yard touchdown run early in the final quarter, then, Westfield finally got going.
David Figley blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety followed by Dan Ferguson hauling in a 2-yard touchdown pass from Nolan Hunt and a two-point run by Mike Okerlund made the score 20-10.
Graham gave Sherman some breathing room by connecting with Dylan Schouten on a 35-yard touchdown strike to give the Wildcats a 26-10 lead.
Westfield scored later a 4-yard run by Hunt and Okerlund ran for two points to pull the Wolverines within eight at 26-18.
Westfield attempted an onsides kick, Sherman recovered it and ran out the final 1:30.
Moorehead gained 58 yards in 19 carries and John Luden caught seven passes for 88 yards to lead Sherman. Trevor Enterline led in tackles with 14 and another tackle Jacob Toy added seven.
Okerlund had 81 yards in 18 attempts for Westfield and Dan Ferguson made 12 tackles.
