Patient's Pharmacy Inc. in Jamestown will hold its grand opening celebration Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All are welcome to attend. The festivities begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. accompanied by state Sen. Cathy Young, Mayor Sam Teresi, and Lee Harkness, Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation executive director. There will be a reception to follow with free refreshments from Tim Horton's. Door prizes and handouts will be provided, along with demonstrations on various medical supplies by a DRIVE Medical Representative. Customers can enter to win grand prizes including a 32-inch Toshiba LCD TV, a Rebel wheelchair donated by DRIVE Medical and more throughout the day.
Patient's Pharmacy Inc. is a leading provider in prescription medications and health care supplies for long-term care, assisted living, group homes and skilled nursing facilities. The pharmacy, located at the former Bro Laines Bridal building, 320 N. Main St., will be open to the public starting Monday to fill prescription medications. The pharmacy accepts most insurance plans. Patient's Pharmacy Inc. is independently and locally owned by Donald Nash Jr., president, along with Diane Mathews, vice president.

Nash graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in1979, and completed an ASHP hospital residency program at Albany Medical Center in 1980. Prior to his employment with Patient's Pharmacy, Nash served as pharmacy director at Westfield Memorial Hospital, the Chautauqua County Home, Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Heritage Village Retirement Home and served as staff pharmacist at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Nash has also worked as a clinical consulting pharmacist and owner of Nash Pharmacy Services. Nash is an active member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, and serves as consultant pharmacist for several group and nursing homes across Western New York.
Mrs. Mathews, a native of Chautauqua County, has served as a pharmacy technician for more than 35 years. Mrs. Mathews' career began in 1974 with The Medicine Shoppe and has been employed throughout the area by Rite Aid, Eckerd, Fay's Drugs, Lutheran Home in-house pharmacy, Heritage Village in-house pharmacy and Kindred Pharmacy Services. Mrs. Mathews has also worked for PharMerica Corporation, the second largest long-term care company in the nation specializing in pharmacy management services.
In April 2008, Nash and Mathews developed Patient's Pharmacy Inc. for long-term care, assisted living, group homes, and skilled nursing facilities in Western New York. The company began with four employees, including Nash and Mrs. Mathews. Since then, their business has grown to 20 employees and services more than 30 facilities in New York state.
Patient's Pharmacy Inc. has expanded not only to a retail pharmacy, but will also be furnished with a showroom of Durable Medical Equipment supplies and a stylish shop for breast cancer survivors and their families. Whisper's Boutique will specialize in various mastectomy clothing; including post surgical camisoles, and breast form comfort needs. It will carry a full line of compression sleeves, scarves, comfort pillows, and American Breast Care undergarments. Carolyn Murray is Patient's Pharmacy Inc.'s professional mastectomy garment fitter. Ms. Murray has more than 35 years experience as a licensed practical nurse and is a lymphedema therapist through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies.
"Our goal is to have a full line of cancer-related items," Ms. Murray said. "Any products we don't have, we would be happy to special order for our patients. We just want our customers to be comfortable and know they will be taken care of."
Customers of Patient's Pharmacy Inc. will also have the luxury of a waiting area comparable to a clinical setting, equipped with a flat screen television, comfortable seating and various reading materials while they wait for their prescription medications.
"We pride ourselves in giving the personal touch our customers deserve," Mrs. Mathews said. "I believe that will make us stand out from the rest."
