RANDOLPH - If you're bored of people forgetting to phrase their response in the form of a question, then step away from the TV and into Cinnamon Fern Studio.

Cinnamon Fern Studio, 3225 Bowen Road, Randolph, is a new business offering fine painting and woodworking workshops for children and adults. The studio is owned by Brett and Crystal Walters, who have just opened the business this summer. The couple, originally from Randolph, had operated a similar studio while living in Berne, which is near Albany. Now the pair have moved back home and wish to continue their passion of teaching people a new skill.

''My favorite part is really being able to give back to the community. Here kids are allowed to express themselves through art outside of school,'' Mrs. Walters said. ''I love doing it during the summer. I'm a teacher so I have my summers open.''

The studio offers art classes for learning how to paint, draw or make jewelry, which are taught by Mrs. Walters. Then Walters teaches workshops on how to make wooden catapults and the classic labyrinth game box. Both instructors plan on expanding offerings. Photography and sculpting classes will be added for art lovers while creating checkerboards and jewelry boxes will be additional for woodworkers.

There are classes for all ages, abilities and interest. For children, workshops designed to inspire young artist. For adults, ladies and couples nights for people wanting a new activity to try. This fall the workshops take place on Friday and Saturday. The first classes will happen Saturday, Sept. 22.

''It is for all different ages and genders, with each bringing different talents to the table,'' she said.

So far, Walters said response has been good, with people signing up for additional classes. His favorite aspect of operating the studio is seeing children learn.

''The kids, they are hesitant at first to use a new tool, but then quickly, the next thing you know, they are just hammering away,'' he said. ''It is neat to see how fast they learn.''

Along with the workshops, the couple also create fine art and wooden creations which are available for purchase. Also, the studio is available for rent to host events like a book club.
