Maple Grove Girls Win Their Invitational

The Maple Grove girls cross country team finished first in the Red Dragon Invitational at Long Point State Park on Saturday morning.

The Lady Red Dragons had 31 points followed by Fredonia with 48, Williamsville North 141, Orchard Park 149, Jamestown 150, Gowanda 167, Pioneer 184, Allegany-Limestone 217, Falconer 225, Southwestern 226, Frewsburg 228 and Olean 268.

Laura Reyda of Fredonia was the individual leader with a time of 18:57.11 on the 3.1-mile course. Hope Pietrocarlo of Maple Grove was second in 19:26.18 and Olivia Zabrodsky of Jamestown was third in 19:47.81.

Caroline Benson of Maple Grove was fourth in 19:57.99, Kirsten Holmberg of Falconer was fifth in 20:15.96, Megan Marsh of Maple Grove was sixth in 20:19.14, Michaela Tramuta of Fredonia was seventh in 20:29.87, Taylor Norris of Maple Grove was eighth in 20:42.96, Danielle Dorogi of Williamsville North was ninth in 20:50.02 and 10th was Hannah Seiders of Silver Creek in 20:55.14.

The other members of the winning Maple Grove team were Abby Sirwatka, who was 12th in 21:12.87; Ally Saar, who was 18th in 21:44.58; and Stephanie Krempa had a time of 27:46.90.

The boys race was won by Williamsville North with 73 points, edging out Orchard Park with 75.

Maple Grove was third with 91 followed by Eisenhower 131, Southwestern 158, Olean 162, Jamestown 174, Gowanda 219, Fredonia 222, Dunkirk 259, Frewsburg 306, Pioneer 322m Falconer 346, Allegany-Limestone 367, Randolph 376 and Franklinville 456.

Corey Wefing of Maple Grove led the boys race with a time of 16:18.43. Ryan Hetrick of Southwestern was eight in 22:11 and Patrick Walsh of Jamestown was 10th in 17:46.
