PORTVILLE - Brandon Muniga caught a 7-yard pass from quarterback Brett Marcellin to cap a five-play, 77-yard drive with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter to propel the Portville Panthers (2-1) past Frewsburg, 16-12, in Class D football.

During the decisive drive, Marcellin connected with Zach Wood on a 52-yard pass, moving the Panthers down to the Frewsburg 10 and putting them within striking distance.

In addition to the big catch, Wood led Portville with 27 carries for 83 yards.

After a scoreless opening period, Frewsburg (2-1) struck first in the second quarter when Nick Munella hit paydirt on a 34-yard keeper. But Portville answered back with 10 points - a 15-yard touchdown run by Wood and a fumbled snap on a punt that resulted in a safety - to regain the lead at half.

Frewsburg's final score came in the third when Bryce Peterson caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Munella.

Ben Waugh led the victors with eight tackles while teammate Tyler Veno made seven tackles and recovered a fumble.
