STAR Swimming will hold open registration for the 2012-2013 competitive short course swim season and its new Competitive Swim Experience program during the week of Sept. 17.
Swimmers can register for either program during the first week of practices. Practices are held as follows: Monday, 5:30-7 p.m. at the Frewsburg High School pool; Tuesday and Friday, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Southwestern Elementary pool; Wednesday and Thursday, 6-7:30 p.m. at Jamestown High School pool.
New this fall is a Competitive Swimming Experience program. STAR is offering a 6-week program, beginning Sept. 17 to introduce those who are interested in competitive swimming, without the 26-week commitment. Training sessions are one hour long, three nights a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). The program concludes with a swim meet for those who want to compete.
The STAR swim team is open to all ages and no experience, other than being able to swim one length of the pool on front and back required. Short course season is a 26-week program running from mid-September to mid-March. Performance team members are encouraged to swim five days and developmental (formerly advanced beginners) team members are scheduled in the pool Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Registration paperwork is available on the STAR website or contact STARJamestown@stny.rr.com. Payment plan options and discounted USA memberships are available to those who qualify.
All swimmers should come prepared to swim, bring swimsuit, towel, water bottle and goggles.
