SHERMAN?TOPS?PVCS
SOUTH DAYTON - The first-half offensive production from Andrew Graham and Devin Moorhead was more than enough to lead Sherman (2-0) past Pine Valley, 35-7, Friday in Class DD action Graham threw for 110 yards and two scores while also running four times for another 27 yards.
Moorhead was virtually unstoppable with 150 yards on just 10 carries. He scored twice on the ground and also grabbed a 28-yard touchdown reception that opened the scoring.
Moorhead continued the assault with a 25-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, but that was all the scoring Pine Valley (0-2) allowed as the Panthers stepped up in the second half.
Josh Kilburn got Pine Valley on the board with a 39-yard touchdown run that was part of a 24-carry, 104-yard performance for the running back.
"He worked hard all day for us," Buczek added.
The Panthers defense held its own in the second half and even provided a highlight when Ryan Clutter picked off a Graham pass.
"We got a little more penetration from our (defensive) line," Buczek explained. "That helped our linebackers form up and make tackles."
Dan Weaver led the Panthers with eight tackles and Sherman's Greiner led all tacklers with 10.
Pine Valley travels to play Ellicottville next week while Sherman hosts Westfield.
