Adelgren Powers Frewsburg To Class D Victory

BUFFALO - Devone Adelgren ran for well over 100 yards in leading Frewsburg (2-0) to an easy Class D football victory Friday night.

Adelgren gained 161 yards in 17 attempts and scored the only touchdown in the first half as the Bears rolled over International Prep/Grover, 27-0, at Riverside.

The lone touchdown in the first half came at 1:43 when Adelgren found room for a 19-yard touchdown run and then booted the extra point. Adelgren had an 80-yard touchdown jaunt called back because of a penalty and the Bears also had another called back because of an infraction.

In the third quarter, the Bears put up 20 points on the scoreboard with Nick Fardink starting it off with a 40-yard touchdown run with 9:52 showing.

Rob Stearns went over from the nine with 4:31 left and from the five with 1:41 left. He also ran in the conversion on the last score.

Offensively, the Bears ran 37 times for 297 yards while limiting the hosts to minus eight yards in 37 carries and 10 yards passing on two completions for a total of two yards.

Defensively, tackle Nick Long had nine tackles, caused a fumble and recovered a fumble, end Cody Haller seven stops, caused a fumble and recovered one and the other end Tage Johnson five tackles and two sacks.

CATTARAUGUS - Led by Oliver Simpson, Maple Grove won its second straight in Class D football Friday night.

Simpson, coming off a 200-plus effort against Silver Creek, recorded 123 yards in 16 carries while scoring twice as the Red Dragons topped Cattaraugus-Little Valley (0-2), 30-6.

The Red Dragons scored nine points in the first quarter on a safety and Aaron Germain's 14-yard touchdown run. Erik Olson converted the first of four-for-four on placements.

Simpson tallied his first score on a four-yard run in the second and had a five-yarder in the third quarter.

Chad Klingensmith raced 10 yards to paydirt and had 40 yards in five attempts for MG.

Cattaraugus-Little Valley got its first touchdown of the season when Matt Booth scored from the one.

Booth had 77 yards in 13 carries and made 12 tackles from his linebacking post in the loss.
