JAMESTOWN POLICE

Diane J. Jordan, 45, of Jamestown was charged at 2:50 a.m. Friday, with felony driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to keep right on a right turn and failure to use a turn signal. Police conducted a traffic stop on Hall Avenue near Fairmount Avenue in the city of Jamestown after observing a traffic violation. Jordan was determined to be operating the vehicle. After a series of field sobriety tests officers determined Jordan to be intoxicated and took her into custody. After a Department of Motor Vehicle check of her driver's license and a criminal history check, she was found to have a revoked New York state driving status and a previous conviction of driving while intoxicated. Jordan was charged and is currently awaiting arraignment in the Jamestown City Jail.

Joseph E. Shields, 33, of Jamestown was charged at 1:33 a.m. Friday with failure to keep right, no/insufficient tail lamps, refusal to take breath test and driving while intoxicated. A vehicle was observed with insufficient tail lamps and failing to keep right as it traveled on Camp Street. It was stopped on Hunter Street at Hebner Street and Shields was observed operating the vehicle. He was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail and found to have a previous conviction for DWI within the last 10 years, making the charge a felony. Shields will be arraigned in the Jamestown City Court and will later appear at a DMV hearing.

LAKEWOOD-BUSTI POLICE

April S. Matteson, 39, of 164 Barrett Ave., Upper Apartment, Jamestown, was charged with two counts of petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child Friday. A warrant was served on Matteson following two separate incidents at Wal-Mart on July 18 and Aug. 10. On both dates, Matteson stole items from the store without paying for the items and then handed them off to co-defendant Jay Campbell, who returned those items obtaining gift cards. Campbell was arrested on Aug. 30. She is due in the Town of Busti Court on Sept. 11 to answer the charges.

Samantha J. Sargent, 32, of 10 Utica St., Jamestown, was charged with two counts of petit larceny Friday. A warrant was served on Sargent following two separate incidents at Wal-Mart on Aug. 14 and Aug. 31. On both dates, Ms. Sargent stole items from the store without paying for them and then either returned those items or attempted to return them. She is due in the town of Busti Court on Sept. 11 to answer the charges.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

GOWANDA - Steven Sanchez, 41, of 27 Palmer St., Apt. 1, Gowanda, was issued an appearance ticket in City of Olean Court on Sept. 18. He is accused of failing to notify the Department of Social Services that his household composition changed causing him to receive $1,628 in cash assistance and food stamps to which he was not entitled to from September 2011 to June 2012.

SALAMANCA - Jeffrey A. Hostuttler was charged at 3:44 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 with issuing a bad check. Deputies responded to a motor-vehicle accident at the intersection of Bucktooth Run and Jimerson roads in the town of Salamanca, early Saturday morning. Upon investigation of the accident, patrol discovered that a male on scene, had outstanding warrants in the city of Salamanca for the issuing of a bad check. Deputies apprehended Hostuttler and transported him to Salamanca Police Department where he was processed and held on $330 bail to be arraigned in Salamanca City Court at a later date.

ELLICOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT

ELLICOTT - Nicole V. Hummel, 33, of 27 Anderson Ave., Falconer, was charged Thursday with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Ellicott Police responded to Anderson Avenue for a report of a young child left alone. After an investigation, it was learned that Hummel never returned home and left her three children home alone. She was taken into custody, arraigned and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.

SALAMANCA POLICE

SALAMANCA - Rick Barber, 57, of 59 Main St., Apt. 3, Salamanca, was charged with second-degree harassment at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday. Barber was arraigned and is set to return to court at a later date.

SALAMANCA - John Ball, 53, of 355 E. State St., Salamanca, was charged with second-degree harassment at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Ball will return to court Sept. 12.

SALAMANCA - Richard Smith, 32, of 71 Clinton St., Salamanca, was charged with third-degree assault at 4 a.m. Thursday. He is being held in the city jail.
