SANBORN - It was a tough day for the Jamestown Community College men's soccer team on Thursday as the Jayhawks (1-2, 1-3) were unable to keep their early advantage in a 3-1 loss to host Niagara County CC in an NJCAA Region 3 Division III contest.
The Jayhawks got on the board first thanks to a goal by Blake Barker just three minutes into the game with Nolan Farr assisting.
"We had multiple high-quality chances to build on that, but failed to take advantage of those opportunities," said JCC coach Pat Anderson.
JCC held the lead until the 22-minute mark when Scott Fala scored an unassisted goal for Niagara County.
In the second half, NCCC took the lead 22 minutes in when Jose Cabrara added an unassisted tally and seven minutes later, JCC gave up the ball near the net and Fala knocked in his second of the game.
Ben Morgan had 10 saves in the loss for JCC. Todd Bardwell collected eight saves for NCCC in claiming the win.
"This was very frustrating, at least from the sidelines," said Anderson. "We actually dominated play in first half, but in the second , we were the first ones to make a mistake."
JCC will try to get back on the winning track Sunday as it hosts Westmoreland County CC in its first home game of the season at 3 p.m.
