County Bridge Reopens In Laona
POMFRET - Chautauqua County Bridge No. 958, on Webster Road between Laona Road and Fredonia-Stockton Road in the town of Pomfret has reopened.
Jamestown Moose To Hold Picnic
Jamestown Moose Lodge 1681 will hold its family picnic for members and qualified guests from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Allen Park Men's Club on Norby Road. Members and qualified guests are invited. There will be games for children and adults, as well as food and beverages and giveaways. The cost is $3 and free for children 12 and under. Family Retreat Begins Friday
SINCLAIRVILLE - The Brocton Baptist Church's annual family retreat weekend will be Friday through Sunday in Bethany Camp, Bates Road, Sinclairville. Joining with the church fellowship will be Jack and Keiko Marshall, missionaries serving in Japan. The retreat begins with dinner at 6 p.m. Friday. Families and individuals are welcome to attend any or all of the activities and meals throughout the weekend. Because services will be at the camp, the Sunday service will not be held in the church building in Brocton. Regular services will resume on Sunday, Sept. 16, with Sunday school at 10 a.m.; worship at 11 a.m.; and an evening service at 6 p.m.
Free Bluegrass Tonight In Celoron
CELORON - There will be free bluegrass music at the Celoron American Legion from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight. Bluegrass musicians are welcome to take a turn on stage. Backwoods Bluegrass will be the host.
Coin Show Set For Sunday
CELORON - The PenNY Coin Show will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Celoron Legion, Fairmount Avenue. More than 30 dealers will be present and all types of coins can be bought and sold as well as appraised. Admission is free.
Free Rabies Clinic Set For Sept. 13
CLYMER - The Chautauqua County Health Department will hold a free rabies vaccination from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Clymer Highway Building, 8026 Route 474, Clymer. Tri-County Vets will be the veterinarian. The vaccination is sponsored by the town of Clymer. All pets will be required to be on a leash or in a cage, and owners are encouraged to bring rabies vaccination records for each animal that will be receiving a shot. Watch Group To Meet Monday
CHERRY CREEK - The Cherry Creek Neighborhood Watch Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Cherry Creek Fire Hall on the corner of Main Street and Southside Avenue. The meeting will be an in-depth, organizational meeting. The public is invited to attend.
Yard Waste Site To Close
The Board of Public Utilities will discontinue its 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday yard waste site hours for this season after 7 p.m. Sept. 12. The site will continue to receive green waste on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through early November, provided weather continues to permit vehicles to access the site.
