Ayers Leads Way In McDonald’s Senior Tour

CHAUTAUQUA - Denny Ayers fired a plus 12 to lead Flight A as the McDonald's Senior Golf Tour visited Chautauqua Golf Club on Tuesday.

Utilizing the modified Stableford scoring system, Shelly Grant was second with plus 9 and Bill Cross took third place with plus 6. Ayers also shot a 69 for the low gross.

Bob Wade led Flight B with plus 8 and also fired an 83 to earn low gross honors, Roger Burlett was next with plus 2 and Alan Ludick also had plus 2.

In Flight C, Scott Vogan led all shooters with plus 9, Bill Anderson and Joe Palermo followed with plus 7s and Anderson was the low gross leader with an 89.

Dave Lauricello shot plus 8 to lead Flight D and had a 93 for the low gross, Tom O'Brien had plus 6 and Sam Pellerito was third with plus 5.

Wayne Lind and Carl Ranier each had plus 6s to pace Flight E and Gary Simon was right behind with a plus 5. Lind also fired a 96 for the low gross.

In Flight F, Bill Saulsgiver was the leader with plus 9, Junie Schenck and Jim Polvino followed with plus 4s and Polvino also fired a 104 for the low gross.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Pat Hepinger on No. 4, Ken Aldrich on No. 6, Bill Roschy on No. 8, Dick Adams on No. 12 and Tom O'Brien on No. 15.

The McDonald's Senior Tour will move to Holiday Valley Country Club on Monday with a 9 a.m. start.
