To the Readers' Forum:
Schools should not take books and cursive writing out of the classroom. Many young students lack good writing skills. This makes it difficult in college and work. I blame computers and e-mail for the gradual destruction of letter writing, filling out forms, essays, which are works of art, and reading comprehension.
Students and young adults are carrying around small objects of technology and texting useless, compulsive bits of this and that. The beauty of English is becoming besmirched. I hope it is not too late to save the language.
Cursive writing displays the writer's personality and can sometimes lead law enforcement to catch a criminal. Snail mail produces letters that are kept for years in beautiful boxes, treasured for generations to come.
Sometimes the old way is the best way.
