Erik Olson scored two goals and Kyle Richardson earned the shutout as Maple Grove began the 2012 boys soccer season with a 2-0 non-league win over visiting Fredonia on Friday.
Olson broke the scoreless duel around the 15-minute mark of the first period on an assist by Andy Farnham.
In the second half at the 30-minute mark, Olson scored his second goal with an assist from Dominick Fabrizio.
Maple Grove entertains non-league Southwestern (1-0) on Tuesday.
