Dorothy F. (Prescott) Verry, 93, passed away Aug. 26, 2012, in Daven-port, Iowa, formerly of Sherman, N.Y. and James-town, N.Y. Dorothy was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Up-ton, Mass., to the late Alfred and Eunice (Blake) Prescott, while her father was in France fighting in World War I.
Dorothy was totally de-voted to her family, married to her husband for 63 years and together raising five children. She loved chil-dren, animals, nature's beauty and swimming. Dorothy's quick humor and kindness will be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Kevin) Cole of Sherman, N.Y., where she resided after the death of her husband; sons: Donald (Linda) Verry of Santee, Calif., George (Mary Cashman) Verry of Davenport, Iowa, and Lawrence (Diane) Verry of Chula Vista, Calif; grand-son, Timothy (Janet) Verry of North Olmsted, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Kyra and Thea Verry of North Olmsted, Ohio and Hana, Sara and Natalie Ver-ry of Everson, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Francis Verry Seymour of Ohio; stepsister, Judy Robinson of Rutland, Mass.; sisters-in-law, Barthelene Wadja, Chelmsford, Mass., and Gwen Gann of Newport News, Va.; nieces: Gloria Kuzminskas of Glaston-bury, Conn., and Donna Rene Verry of Decatur, Ill.; nephews William Letsky of Palm Coast, Fla., Alan Wadja of Chelmsford, Mass., Robert Wadja of Wellesly, Mass., and Fredrick Verry of Newport News, Va.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Arthur B. Verry of Jamestown, N.Y., in 2001; a son, Frederick Verry; grandsons: Michael and Jeffery Verry; a sister, Eleanor Letsky; a brother, Alfred Prescott, Jr.; and brothers-in-law: Stephen Letsky, Frederick Verry and John Wadja.
Burial will be at a later date in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Jamestown Boys and Girls Club, Chau-tauqua County Humane So-ciety or a charity of one's choice.
