Hunt Road Residents Still Looking To Sell Home

LAKEWOOD - The homeowners on Hunt Road who held an auction to try and sell their house weren't successful.

Richard and Paula Eisenberger are still trying to sell their home located at 975 Hunt Road in Lakewood. Earlier this month, the couple held an open house and auction, with the hopes of receiving a bid on the home. Even though the auction didn't lead to a sale, Mrs. Eisenberger felt the process was still good exposure.

''(The auction) did drum up a lot of interest. Nineteen families or groups came, which is huge for an open house,'' she said.

Mrs. Eisenberger said one reason the auction didn't work is people who were interested might not have been able to move from where they were already living.

''I think people were worried about buying something and then not being able to get out of their current lease or able to sell their home,'' she said. "Because of this, they weren't able to put in a bid even if they were interested.''

Mrs. Eisenberger said even though a lot of people attended the open house, not all were there to purchase a home.

''There were people that were interested in the house, but a majority were people that were just curious and looking for something to do on a Sunday,'' she said.

The auction might not have directly led to a sale, but the exhibition has been responsible for more people seeing the house.

''I had four showings since, so in a sense it was successful. People are still calling me to see if the house is still for sale,'' she said. ''I didn't sell the house at the auction, but it seems I at least have gotten more interest. So, I'm still positive.''

Mrs. Eisenberger said she will continue to look for a buyer and maybe the right one will come along.

''The biggest hurdle is getting the right kind of people to see the house,'' she said. ''Even with all the advertising, we've still had a lot of people see the house that weren't a good fit because they weren't looking for such a roomy, spacious home.''
