Swiss Steak Dinner Planned

CHERRY CREEK - The Cherry Creek/Leon United Methodist Church, Main Street, Cherry Creek, will hold a swiss steak dinner starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Suggested donations are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Family pricing is available. The meal includes a beverage and homemade desserts.

Dunkirk Parish To Hold Event

DUNKIRK - St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 328 Washington Ave., Dunkirk, will celebrate the 37th anniversary of the parish and canonization of her patron, Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton, who was canonized on Sept. 14, 1975. The celebration will begin with a Eucharistic Celebration at 6 p.m. followed by supper and a program in the parish hall. All parishioners and families are invited. Invitations will also be sent to former pastors, assistants and seminarians who have served the parish.

Chicken Biscuit Benefit Is Sept. 9

LAKEWOOD - Emeritus at Lakewood is holding a chicken biscuit dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, to benefit the Alzheimers Association. Tickets at the door are $6 for adults, $4 for children; or $5 for adults and $3 for children pre-sale. Free Bluegrass Music Tonight

CELORON - There will be free bluegrass music at the Celoron American Legion from 7 to 10 p.m. today. Bluegrass musicians are welcome to take a turn on stage. Backwoods Bluegrass will be the host. Backwoods will also be playing Saturday for a Bob Minor square dance, at the Stoneboro Fair. This will be at the centerfield stage from 8 to 11 p.m.

Spire Workshop Postponed

The drum and dance workshop featuring Preach Freedom scheduled for today at The Spire Theater has been postponed.

God's Portion Sale Is Sept. 22

ASHVILLE - The 53nd annual God's Portion Sale at the Open Meadows United Methodist Church will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the church, 3183 Open Meadows Road, Ashville. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. with an auction beginning at 1 p.m. Sales will include a bag sale in the country cupboard pavilion, bake sale, craft and jewelry bazaar, special Christmas bazaar and old-fashioned yard sale.

Preschool Readies For Fundraiser

WESTFIELD - The Apple Seed Christian Preschool is getting ready for its fourth annual 5K Run/Walk fundraiser, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at Welch Field on Third Street between Elm and Union streets. Registration and check-in for those pre-registered will begin at 8 a.m., and the race will begin at 9 a.m. Pre-registered participants will receive an event T-shirt. If interested in sponsoring the event, please call the preschool at 326-3110.
