Budd Robert Yeager

Budd Robert Yeager, 79, of Ashville, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at his home.

He was born July 20, 1933, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late George and Winnie Maloy Yager.

Dad lived in Watts Flats most of his life. He married Mable "Gabby" Stevens on Nov. 23, 1957.

He was retired from Red Star Trucking and was the former highway superintendent for the town of Harmony, and a member of Lakewood Legion 1286, Lakewood Rod & Gun, International Brotherhood of Teamsters AFL-CIO 649, an active member of the Watts Flats United Methodist Church, life member of the Panama Fire Department for 45 years, a sergeant of the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict, and a active supporter of Chautauqua County 4-H programs.

He is survived by his wife, Gabby; and three children: Roberta Edwards, Robin (Tom) Kestler, Jerry (Shawn) Yeager; grandchildren: Danielle (Corry) Shauman, Brigit (Kenny) Drake, Kyle and Heather Yeager, Erick Anderson his dad Kevin, Willie Eschwie, and Danny Edwards; and great-grandchildren: Kayla, Hannah and Parker Shauman, Kendall and Jacob Drake and Layla Anderson. Also many loving nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Budd. Many close family and friends, and special neighbors, and special thanks to Tim and Terri Stahl and Scot, Julie, Tony and Roo Eggleston.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Claude, Roland and Leo Yeager; sisters: Adilaide Hodges and Gertrude Walberg.

Budd enjoyed distributing equipment from the church loan closet, working church dinners and maintaining the church building. He responded to many fire and first-aid calls. In earlier years, Budd enjoyed logging with horses, was a self-employed cattle hauler, and enjoyed racing at Roll-O-Bowl Speedway. Budd enjoyed watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in their music and sports activities. He was a loving family man.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at the Watts Flats United Methodist Church, with Pastor Warren VanDewark, pastor of the church, officiating.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, N.Y., and for one hour prior to the service Friday at church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750; Watts Flats United Methodist Church; the Panama Fire Department; or Chautauqua County 4-H, Turner Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
