The Post-Journal

Bertha Laura Sandstrom, 88, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday (Aug. 26, 2012), in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.

She was born July 14, 1924, in Mountain View, N.J., the daughter of the late Walter and Emilie Jacobson Martinson.

A loving wife and moth-er, Bertha was a homemaker most of her life. She loved sewing, knitting, and cross-stitching. Hand-made items were plentiful and beautiful. Bertha loved her family and friends, had a wonderful sense of humor, and always loved a good joke. She and her husband owned a summer cottage on Chautauqua Lake for more than 20 years where many fond family memories were made. They later retired to Orlando, Fla. Bertha moved back to Jamestown after the death of her husband.
