STATE COLLEGE - Mason Hope and Jheyson Manzueta combined for a shutout as the Jamestown Jammers won for the third time in the last four starts in the New York-Penn League Friday night.

Pope (3-3) worked seven innings and Manzueta the final two and they limited State College (30-34) to only three hits while fanning 13 and walking just one when the Jammers (28-35) recorded a 1-0 win.

Pope, who had one of his best efforts of the season, allowed two hits while fanning nine and walking one. Manzueta whiffed four and allowed a hit in his two innings.

The only run came in the fourth inning for the Jammers. Cody Keefer hit a leadoff double off Luis Heredia (3-2) followed by a sacrifice bunt by Anthony Gomez.

Then Viosergy Rosa lofted a sacrifice fly to left field and the Jammers had the only run of the game.

State College had its best chance in the fourth inning to score. With two outs, D. J. Crumlich and Jacob Stallings singled but Pope bore down and fanned Jesus Vasquez to end the threat.

The other State College hit was a single by Crumlich with two outs in the ninth off Manzueta, who retired Stallings on a strikeout to get his first save.

Jamestown had just six hits, including two by Gomez and Pedro Mendoza.

The Jammers continue to play State College today at 7:05 p.m. and meet the Spikes in a 6:05 p.m. game on Sunday to conclude the series before moving on for three nights at 7:05 p.m. at Williamsport Monday-Wednesday.
