Harmony Seniors To Meet Sept. 6 For Tureen Dinner

August 27, 2012
The Post-Journal

The Harmony Seniors will meet for a tureen dinner on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. in the Panama Methodist Church. Those attending should bring their own table service and a dish to pass.

The Food and Decoration Committee for September includes Sandy Hoyt, Martha Chapman, Mary Lou Stevens, Marilyn Alexander, Sally Hagg, Sharon Nutt, and Joyce Ecker.

Recently the group met for their monthly meeting. Pauline Edsall, chaplain, welcomed the group, read "Late Summer Day" by Kay Hoffman, gave the dinner prayer and led the flag salute.

Birthdays were celebrated by Ruth Brown, Helen Farren, eldest in attendance, Janet Kelly, Eleanor King, Lois King, Helen Lindquist, Gilbert McCallough, Mildred Palmer, George Peterson, Clara Ann Ransom, Eva Swan, and Sandy Whitford. Donna and George Peterson celebrated their anniversary.

Rosalie Logue conducted the business meeting. The following slate of officers was selected and approved by the group: Rosalie Logue, president; Sally Hagg, vice president; Beverly Smith, secretary; Lester Wevers, treasurer; Melvin Lord, chaplain; Dottie Enlow, trip chair; Wendi Raynor, cheer; and Ellen Coffaro, entertainment. The new officers' term will begin in September.

Members were reminded that dues of $5 would be collected in September.

Ellen Coffaro encouraged members to sign up for the Senior Council Dinner in Kiantone on Sept. 19. The theme will be the "Big Band Era" with music provided by Tim Stockman. Price per person is $11. A partial payment for the dinner will be paid from the group's treasury. For more information, interested members should contact Lester Wevers to make a reservation. A basket raffle will be held at the event. Each group is responsible for contributing two baskets.

Dottie Enlow gave a trip report. There were four openings for the mystery trip on Sept. 24. Those interested should contact her. The bus will leave Panama a 6:45 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. She reminded the members that she can only return payment for a trip cancellation if the space is filled by another person.
