Lemonade Sale Today Downtown
A fundraiser for Alex's Lemonade Stand will be held as part of Thunder in the Streets from noon to 5 p.m. today. All money raised will be donated to childhood cancer research efforts.
Outdoor Club To Meet Sunday
RUSSELL - On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike 4 miles and picnic in Russell. Participants will bring a dish to pass and meet at the home of Bill and Jean Ferry at 101 Werner Drive, Russell, at 2:30 p.m. Hot dogs, tableware and beverage will be provided. Driving Course Set For Monday
FREWSBURG - A five-hour prelicensing driving course will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Frewsburg High School. Pre-register by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Historical Society To Host Trip
NORTH EAST, Pa. - The Lake Shore Railway Historical Society will host a trip to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway in Brecksville, Ohio, on Saturday, Sept. 15. A motor coach will leave North East at 11 a.m. for the trip to Brecksville where the group will board a steam powered train for a ride through the cuyahoga National Park and follow the Erie-Ohio Canal to Canton, Ohio, with a one-hour layover planned there. A motor coach will be waiting in Brecksville to return participants to North East arriving at 10 p.m. The cost is $105 per person. Checks should be made payable to LRHS. VVA To Host Chicken Barbecue
FREWSBURG - The David L. Woodburn Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America will host a chicken barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Frewsburg American Legion Post 556 pavilion, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg. There will also be giveaways and drawings. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any chapter members or by calling Calvin Fain, secretary, at 569-9202. The barbecue is a fundraiser to support chapter programs, including a scholarship presented each year to a high school senior and help for local veterans in need on a case-by-case basis.
Historical Society Seeks Crafters
SINCLAIRVILLE - The Valley Historical Society is looking for crafters to participate in this year's Sinclairville History Fair to be held on Saturday, Sept. 8. The craft show will take place in Minckler Common from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A 10-foot-by-10-foot space is only $10 if paid before Sept. 1. To register, call Jane Dorman at 962-2253.
City Planning To Meet Tuesday
The Jamestown Planning Commission will meet at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the mayor's conference room on the fourth floor of Jamestown's City Hall, 200 E. Third St., Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.
