To the Readers' Forum:
After attending one of the most entertaining shows I've enjoyed in a long time, I just had to take the time to commend the Gerry Fire Department, and the super job they did putting together this year's Gerry Rodeo.
The rodeo committee really stepped up to the plate and hit a home run with this year's entertainment! There were more featured events, more cowboys, the pace was faster; It was just an all-around great show, and Painted Pony Rodeo Company did a super job. It felt every bit as exciting and entertaining as when I was a little kid.
To me, personally, the rodeo had more energy this year, which is a welcome sign, as in years past I've had the sad feeling that the tradition was winding down. But after this year's show, there's no doubt people will be talking, and filling the stands next year, especially if Painted Pony comes back!
As a community, we're very fortunate to host and enjoy a rodeo with such a longstanding tradition and great history, and we owe a great deal of gratitude to the people who work so hard to ensure the rodeo will be enjoyed by fans now, and in future generations. I personally have fond childhood memories attending with my parents and grandparents, and I'm looking forward to making more great memories for my own two little rodeo fans. I'm sure many in the community feel the same way, and enjoy these same happy memories of past rodeos shared with friends and loved ones.
So on behalf of my whole family and me, (especially my two sons): Thank you Gerry Rodeo. You did an awesome job for your fans this year. I'm sure I speak for many others when I say we're looking forward to next August, and another great time at the Gerry Rodeo.
If anyone out there feels the same, I encourage you to write your own letter of appreciation, either to the newspaper, or to the Gerry Fire Department. Let's show them they have the full support of an appreciative community.
Let your friends and family know about the improved show, and help ensure the stands are full next year.
