Eva “Zella” Southworth

Eva "Zella" Southworth, 87 of High Springs, Fla., died peacefully in her sleep Monday, Aug. 6, 2012.

She was born June 11, 1925, in Benezette, Pa., to Cassius and Helen Sexton Bundy. Zella married Donald L. Southworth on May 9, 1942, during the war.

She received her nursing training in Jamestown, N.Y., and worked at James-town General Hospital as well as Erie, Pa., Tucson, Ariz. and Santa Monica, Calif. She moved to Gainesville, Fla., in 1968 and retired as a nurse from Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in 1988. She was a member of Eastern Star.

Zella was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Southworth in 1988; daughter, Cassie Gruener-Wesselius; and sis-ters, Norma Beichner and Phyllis Nudd.

She is survived by her sons: David Southworth of Gainesville, Fla., and Finis Southworth of Lynchburg, Va.; sister, Janice Scott of Belmont, N.Y.; brothers: Vyle Bundy and Clinton Bundy, both of Andover, N.Y.; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Zella will be buried next to her husband Donald at the Blooming Valley Cemetery in Blooming Val-ley, Pa., near Meadville, Pa.

The family wishes to ex-tend its heartfelt thanks to both Haven Hospice and the High Springs Plantation Oaks senior residence for their wonderful care during the last months of her life which made her life com-fortable and peaceful to her last day.
