WESTFIELD - A Westfield woman is in the Chautauqua County Jail following a long-term drug investigation.
Alexa E. McMurray, 22, of 43 E. Main St., Westfield, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. Both charges are class B felonies, punishable by up to 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of $30,000.
The Westfield Police Department, assisted by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at McMurray's home at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday. Officers also had arrest warrants for McMurray at the time of the search. During the course of the search, officers found over an ounce of cocaine and a large amount of U.S. currency in the home. Several associates of McMurray were also identified.
McMurray was arraigned and committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on $40,000 cash bail or $80,000 property bail. The narcotics investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected in the future. Anyone with information regarding criminal activity is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.
