FREDONIA - "To Rome With Love," Woody Allen's latest comedy, is the next featured film at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House. It will be screened Saturday at 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Opera House Cinema Series.
"To Rome With Love" is a kaleidoscopic comedy set in one of the world's most enchanting cities. The film brings us into contact with a well-known American architect reliving his youth; an average middle-class Roman who suddenly finds himself Rome's biggest celebrity; a young provincial couple drawn into separate romantic encounters; and an American opera director endeavoring to put a singing mortician on stage. Told in a series of brief vignettes that address the themes of fame and accomplishment, the film stars Allen, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Roberto Benign, Jesse Eisenberg and Ellen Page.
Rated R for sexual references, "To Rome With Love" runs 112 minutes. Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. A book of 10 movie passes is available for $60 at the door, online at www.fredopera.org or by calling the Opera House box office at 679-1891. The series continues with director Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" on Aug. 18 and 21; and "Beasts of the Southern Wild" on Sept. 15 and 18.
