Man Charged In Sunday Incident

An city man is in the Chautauqua County Jail after a stabbing Sunday afternoon.

Kelvin O. Thomas, 29, was charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Jamestown Police were dispatched to WCA Hospital on Sunday afternoon at about 2:15 p.m. after a 29-year-old male victim came into the emergency room with a serious stab wound to his abdomen.

An investigation revealed that at about 2:05 p.m. Sunday, the victim had engaged in an altercation with another male in the area of Fulton Street and Strong Street when he was stabbed. The victim was able to get into his vehicle and drive himself to the hospital for treatment. He underwent surgery to repair the stab wound and is in stable condition at this time.

Investigators from the Jamestown Police Department located Thomas and took him into custody, charging him with first-degree assault for the stabbing and third-degree criminal mischief for throwing a hammer at the victim's vehicle. Thomas was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail after his arraignment.
