Blood Drive Set For Saturday
ELLINGTON - A blood drive at the Ellington Fire Hall gets under way at 10 a.m. Saturday and continues through 2 p.m. Early signups are available by calling Alyssa at 287-2038. The blood drive will be through the Community Blood Bank of Erie. Those who give blood will be entered in a contest to win a trip for four to Walt Disney World.
Program Change At Chautauqua
Andrew Young will speak at 2 p.m. today and Sayyid Syeed will be speaking at 2 p.m. Thursday in Chautauqua Institution's Hall of Philosophy as part of the Institution's Interfaith Lecture Series.
Class Of 1962 To Meet Saturday
FALCONER - The Falconer High School Class of 1962 will hold its class reunion Saturday and Sunday. Events will begin with a luncheon at noon Saturday at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club followed by a boat trip on The Summer Wind at 3 p.m. and a social hour and dinner at the Jamestown Elks Club on East Fourth Street at 6 p.m. Classmates and guests are invited to meet for breakfast Sunday morning at Friendly's Restaurant in Jamestown. The Reunion Committee is seeking information on the following classmates: Jerry Anderson, Ray Parker, Ian Ingersoll, Yvone Haskins and Susan Prickeryl. Gardening Event Is This Evening
The Master Gardener Program of Chautauqua County will host an Evening in the Garden at 6:15 p.m. today at its demonstration site at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County offices, 3542 Turner Road. The evening will include a tour of the new garden as well as a tasting of the vegetable varieties that have been grown. The tour will be given by Betsy Burgeson, Chautauqua County Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardener coordinator, and Chautauqua County Master Gardeners. The demonstration garden complete with nine raised beds, each measuring 3 feet by 3 feet for the Vegetable Varieties for Gardeners Demonstration Site as well as six 3-by 3-foot testing gardens and two 3-by-24 foot giving gardens. The public is welcome to attend. There is no charge for admission.
Thrift Shop Holds Final Clearance
St. Luke's Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, is holding its final summer clearance of clothing for men, women, and children. Clothing is at least 50 percent off regular low prices. Also available is jewelry, small household items, and toys at regular low prices. Sales and receiving hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Receiving only is 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. The shop is staffed entirely by local volunteers including many from RSVP. All proceeds are used to help local charities. This shop has been in business at this location for 30 years.
