Local re-enactor Steve Johnson is the Fenton History Center's guest speaker on Wednesday. He will discuss the major causes of the War of 1812 and how the war affected Western New York localities and their people. He will explain the War of 1812 soldiers' uniforms and equipment.
The lecture will be in the education room of the Fenton History Center, 67 Washington St., just south of the Washington Street Bridge on Route 60. The lecture is free, but donations are welcome.
The series continues the second Wednesday of each month through October. The next topic on Sept. 12 is "Some True and Not-So-True Stories about Chautauqua" by Jonathan Schmitz, Chautauqua Institution archivist.
